Three new entries into the hip hop album top ten, for the turn of the year. 2009 welcomes Plies into pole position, with Da REAList. In second is another new entry, courtesy of Soulja Boy Tell'em, with his new album, iSouljaBoyTellem. Ludacris slips a single slot, to third, whilst Common crashes from first to fifth, after a single week on top of the pack. Scarface drops three positions to seventh, and the final of the new entries is Lil Wayne & DJ Drama, with Gangsta Grillz: Dedication 3, which jumps into ninth, forcing The Game down to tenth to complete the introductory chart for 2009.


Singles

T.I. continues to tell you to Live Your Life at number one for the turn of the year, after 14 weeks on the chart. T.I. also dominates second position with Whatever You Like, after a massive 22 months streak. Kanye West becomes more Heartless, increasing from fifth to third, exchanging places with Mrs. Officer. Ludacris has One More Drink in sixth spot, and Busta Rhymes' Arab Money raises a single position to ninth.

Lil Wayne re-enters the top ten with Got Money, settling into tenth place.
