Eminem brings down the tone
Posted on October 7, 2005
Eminem's lawyers and representatives are preparing to file several lawsuits in an effort to prevent 5 Internet companies from selling the rappers ring tone without the proper approval.
The Associated Press claim that FanMobile, Nextones.com, MyPhoneFiles and MatrixM are all involved with the lawsuits. Karaoke companies which sell Eminem songs for traditional sing a long purposes will also be targetted if they have not yet acquired the respective licenses.
"This is a big business," said attorney Howard Hertz, a representative for the plaintiffs. "We're talking hundreds of thousands of dollars a year."
Ring tone revenue is escalating at a rapid rate and it has been reported that the market notched up an amazing $217 million in year 2004.
Eminem, on the other hand, has not been in the public domain since the cancellation of his European Tour, and his spokesperson refused to comment on his current condition or whereabouts.
