Posted on March 11, 2008
Ice cube, rap pioneer and legend, is back on the scene re-emerging with a new album entitled Raw Footage. The album has been tagged with a June 17th release date and is the follow up to Laugh Now, Cry Later, being the artist's ninth individual project. The LP will of course include the single Gangsta Rap Made Me Do It, and will also exhibit guest spots from the likes of Musiq Soulchild, Nas, Scarface and WC. Production will be taken care of by an array of established West Coast beat makers, includingDJ Crazy Toones and Fred Wreck.
To prepare for the release and to endorse the new album, Cube will be headlining South By Southwest, an indie music festival in Austin, TX. This show is to be held on 15th March at 9 pm and will entice up to 20,000 fans to the event.
In a revolutionary new concept, the show will be streamed live online to open the show up to a worldwide audience who can all enjoy the event in real-time. The show will be hosted on UVNTV.com, Cube's and DJ Pooh's joint venture into streaming TV. The stream is a partnership with Microsoft, as the event will feature Microsoft's very own Silverlight technology. Silverlight technology improves the video streaming quality.
"We are excited to partner with UVNTV.com and SXSW to bring this live concert into the homes of people globally, using our Silverlight technology which delivers the high-def experiences that Ice Cube's fans will love," said Rob Pulciani, Microsoft's senior marketing manager.
