Jr Rotem And Rihanna Reach Number One Spot
Posted on May 11, 2006
Billboard Magazine announced on May 4, 2006 that Rihanna's single "SOS" jumped to Number One on Billboard's Hot 100 Chart, making it "the second biggest leap to #1 in history." Producer Jonathan "J.R." Rotem is responsible for the amazing track, which samples Soft Cell's 1982 hit recording of "Tainted Love."
J.R.'s next releases include work with Britney Spears, The Game, JoJo, Mya, Foxy Brown, Trick Daddy and Freeway. In addition to the phenomenal climb of "SOS", Jonathan has enjoyed recent radio and video chart success for his work on Lil Kim's "Whoa" and 50 Cent's "Best Friend" remix featuring Olivia.
The son of an Israeli immigrants, South African-born and Bay Area-raised J.R. attended Boston's prestigious Berklee College of Music. His amazing talent on the piano and aspiration to score films were the perfect foundation for his music production. Early work with local artists, including members of E-40's camp, led him to his first official album placement with the song "Fancy" for the Destiny's Child album, Survivor.
